  Danny Boy is a ballad set to an ancient Irish melody. The words were written by English songwriter Frederic Weatherly in 1910 and usually set to the Irish tune of the “Londonderry Air”. The song You Raise Me Up has been said to have a strong resemblance to Danny Boy in parts of the melody, demonstrating the song’s staying power and influence.
