从上图可以看出： another 可以起 “名词和形容词”作用，在句中既可单独用作主语、宾语、表语，也可用作定语修饰单数可数名词。表示泛指意义，说明三者及以上中的 “另一个”。而 other 只能用作定语修饰复数名词；不可单独用作主语、宾语、表语。如要做主语、宾语、和表语时，只能在前面加上定冠词或变成复数形式。此时，加了定冠词的为特指 “剩余的都”，不加定冠词的为泛指 “另外一些”。现在我们通过下面的例子来说明他们的用法区别： 1. 用作主语、宾语和表语： I have finished this book, please give me another. 我看完了这本书，请给我另 一本。（别的书很多，给我任意一本就可以了） She has two children, one is a boy, the other is a girl. 她有两个孩子，一个是男孩，另 一个是女孩。 She has more concern for others than for herself. 她关心别人比关心自己更多。（别的人很多，只能关心其中的一些，不可能都关心到） Some went to the cinema, others went swimming. 一些人去看电影，另一些去游泳。（别的人很多，不可能全都去游泳。） In our class only Tom is English, the others are Chinese. 在我们班里只有 Tom是英国人，其他的都是中国人。 2. 用作定语： Mary doesn't want to buy this skirt. Would you please show her anotherone? Mary不想买这件衬衫。请给她另拿一件看看。（另外的衬衫很多，给她任意一件就可以了） On the otherhand, if I give her money, she can choose one herself. 另一方面，如果我直接给她钱，她可以自己选一张。（一件事有两个方面，说了一个方面，就只剩另一方面了。） In the classroom some students are cleaning the windows, other studentsare sweeping the floor. 教室里，一些学生在擦窗户，另一些学生在扫地。（还有一些学生不知道在干什么） One of them is blue，the otherones are purple. 它们的其中一个是蓝色的，其他的是紫色的。(剩余的都是) 3. 几种习惯用法： 1）another 后可以跟：数词+ 复数可数名词（看作一个整体）， 表示在原来的基础上 “另外再......，另外还......” I will stay here foranother ten days. 我将在这里再待上十天。（原来已经在这里待了十天） We need another 2 rooms. 我们还需要两间房。（原来已有两间不够） 2）用于 one after another 短语中，表示 “一个接一个” The students went out of the classroom one after another after the class was over. 下课后，学生们陆续走出了教室。 3）every other... 连用在一起时，表示 “每隔一...” every other day 每隔一天 evrey other line 每隔一行 4）any other+单数可数名词 用于形容词比较级的比较对象时，可表示最高级的意义： He is taller than any other boy in the class.＝He is taller than any of the other boys in the class.他比班里任何其他男孩都高。(他是班里个子最高的) China is larger than any other country in Asia. =China is larger than any of the other countries in Asia.中国比亚洲其他任何一个国家都大。（中国是亚洲最大的国家） 比较：China is larger than any country in Africa. 中国比非洲任一个国家都大。(中国是在亚洲，与非洲其它国家相比，不需要用 other 来排除自己) |
