Word count 150

The bar chart illustrates the percentage of overweight men and women in Australia during a 30 year period from1980 to 2010.

Despite a slight decrease by 3% from 2000 to 2010, the percentage of overweight male showed a dramatically increasing trend, rising from approximately 47% in 1980 to 70% in 2000. The growth was particularly significant from 1990 to 2000, during which time the figure almost increased by 50%.

Meanwhile, the figure of female also witnessed a similar trend. After rising steadily from 30% in 1980 to 50% in 2000, the overweight rate in female leveled off at nearly 50% between 2000 and 2010.

Generally speaking, this 30-year period witnessed a drastic increase in overweight rate in Australia and more than half of total Australian residents were overweight in the year of 2010. Furthermore, the overweight rate in male was approximately 10% higher than that of female in this period.

TASK 2

题目类别:生活方式类

提问方式:混合点

考试题目:

An increasing number   of people are changing careers during their working life. What do you think   are the reasons of this? Is it a positive a negative development?

Word count: 353

Workers now migrate from job to job over their career in search of greater fulfillment and compensation.I think there are a host of contributors of this tendency and we should embrace it with optimism rather than sceptism.

The job outlook is the main factors that lead to career change. Statistics predict whether employment in an occupation will grow, decrease, or stay the same over a decade is based on current and forecasted economic and other factors. While the future may have looked promising for one’s field when he/she entered it, changes in technology, the economy, or the industry can later impact it. Perhaps job opportunities are no longer plentiful, and when we research future predictions, we learn that conditions are going to continue to deteriorate. The other reason for career shift is that the purpose for work currently has extended beyond making a living or being a breadwinner to achieve self-actualisation. In the past, people tended to stay in an industry in order to avert job insecurity, while with the increasing abundance in our life, currently we are more inclined to work for better self, which means that more occupation will be tried before we encounter the career we are willing to devote to.

From my perspective, this tendency is inevitable and promising despite some undesired consequences. Career change can help individuals to fit themselves in the profession they have aptitude and passion for, thereby unleashing their potential to achieve the best both for themselves and their employers. With more motivation, the efficiency and productivity of the whole society would be fueled. Besides, starting the other career can also ease the job fatigue caused by humdrum repetition of employees’ daily routine. Because of the novelty in the new job, one can experience a different company atmosphere, upgrade his/her skill set and then disperse the boredom and frustration of their former job. Thus, the overall happiness of people will be improved, contributing positively to the social welfare.

In conclusion, the objective circumstances and personal ambition are two reasons prompting career change, which, to a large extent, is a boon to majority of us.

一、考试概述:

以下为6月份本场考试话题,请考生们扎实准备。

1. Describe a popular comic actor/actress

2. Describe a city or country that you would like to live or work

3. Describe a magazine you enjoy reading

4. Describe some useful skills you learned in a math class you’re your primary/high school

5. Describe something interesting that your friend has done but you haven’ t done

二、具体题目分析:

Describe some useful skills you learned in a math class you’re your primary/high schoolNew

You should say:

What the skill was

How you learned it

Who taught you

And why it was useful to you

I learned a pretty awesome skill from my math teacher in high school. He taught us how to create an artwork based on mathematical principles.

Our math teacher is really one of a kind, I mean, normally you might be bored out of your mind in math grades, but in his class, he could always find a way to spice things up and make everything about math intriguing.

It’s like making hand shadow puppets, but instead of using hands, we used small cubes. We carved three different shapes into the three faces that are next to each other, you know, the three faces that share one corner, and when you rotate this Cube, you would see the shadows of the three different shapes in turn on the wall.

I still remember how thrilled we were when our teacher showed us how it worked. At fist, the small sculpture looks so abstract, I mean, we didn’t know what it was, but when the light was on, we saw a shadow in The shape of the letter ‘A’ on the wall, and then our teacher rotated the sculpture to a certain angle, and magically, the letter ‘D’ showed up on the wall. We were like ‘wow’, but there’s more, when Our teacher rotated the sculpture again, we saw the letter C. That was quite a jaw-dropping performance for a bunch of high school students, you know.
