美国好莱坞编剧协会之前曾宣布电影史上“101部最佳电影剧本”，获选为第1名的是曾获1944年奥斯卡最佳影片的经典老片《卡萨布兰卡/北非谍影》。这份排行榜是由美国编剧协会成员从1千400多部电影剧本中评选而出。
在这101部获选为最佳电影剧本的影片当中，好莱坞大导演伍迪·艾伦、弗朗西斯·科波拉以及比利·怀德3人都各自有4部剧本上榜，最为风光。 “101部最佳电影剧本”排行榜第2名到第5名依序为《教父》《唐人街》《公民凯恩》《慧星美人》。
第6名到第10名为：《安妮霍尔》《日落大道》《电视台风云》《热情如火》《教父2》。
