英语中和水果有关的成语，你认识吗？

　　the apple of one’s eye--symbol of what is most cherished

　　表示某个特别珍爱的人/物

　　例句：Mary is the apple of his father’s eye, he loves her very much.

　　Mary是他爸爸的掌上明珠，他非常疼爱Mary。



　　to go bananas--to become wildly irrational/to be extremely enthusiastic

　　表示某人发疯或情绪激动

　　例句：When it comes to animal rights, some people go bananas.

　　当谈到动物权益的时候，有些人就开始情绪激动。

　　top banana--the leader, president, manager, etc/the leading or featured comedian in a burlesque show

　　表示领导或滑稽剧中的领衔喜剧演员

　　例句：John has been the top banana in this company for 15 years.

　　Jonhy在这个公司里面做领导已经15年了。

　　to drive someone bananas--to drive someone crazy

　　表示使某人崩溃/疯狂

　　例句：My mother drove me bananas because she embarrassed me in front of my friends.

　　由于我妈妈让我在朋友面前很尴尬，所以我崩溃了！

　　表示仔细挑选

　　例句：It always takes Susie a long time shopping in the mall because she cherry-picks everything.

　　Susie逛商场的时候总是花很长时间，因为她对什么都精挑细选。

　　表示利用某人或欺骗某人

　　例句：If they hand me the lemon, I would refuse it.

　　如果他们把烫手的山芋给我，我会拒绝的。

　　表示向着不好的方向发展了

　　例句：Our plan started to go pear-shaped.

　　我们的计划开始走偏了。

　　表示毫不在乎

　　例句：I don’t give a fig whether Jack comes to my birthday.

　　to be a peach--to be attractive/remarkable/superior/admirable

　　表示某人很有魅力或是某物很高大上

　　例句：Wow, that young lady is really a peach.

　　那个小姐真的很吸引人。

　　表示：吃不着葡萄就说葡萄酸，因得不到而加以贬低的东西（出自《伊索寓言》）

　　例句：Did you have sour grapes when Jason got a promotion?

　　Jason升职的时候，你有没有“酸葡萄”心态啊？



　　to compare apples and oranges--to try to compare 2 items that cannot be practically compared

　　表示两件不同的事物，没有可比性。

　　例句：Don’t compare apples and oranges. You cannot compare your lifestyle with the one in the USA.

　　不要把你的生活方式拿来和美国人做对比，根本没有可比性。



　　to have strawberry nose

　　表示（因为喝酒过量导致的）酒糟鼻或有有黑头的草莓鼻

　　例句：Look at that man’s strawberry nose, he must drink a lot!

　　看那个人的酒糟鼻，他肯定总喝酒！



　　to be wrinkled as a prune

　　表示脸上长了皱纹

　　例句：Even though that old lady’s face is wrinkled as a prune, she still makes herself up every day.

　　即便那个老奶奶的脸上长满了皱纹，她每天仍然精心打扮自己。
