动词keep用法1

1. 作连系动词  表示“保持”，其后可接形容词、副词或介词短语等作表语。 意为“保持某一状态”。

　　（1）Please keep quiet.请保持安静。

（2）She knew she must keep calm [kɑ:m]平静的;镇定的 . 

     她知道她必须保持冷静。

（3）We’ll keep in touch[tʌtʃ] 联系.保持联络with you. 

     我们将和你保持联系。

2.作使役动词  表示使某人或某物保持某种状态

1）.keep+宾语+副词。如：

(1)What have kept you away for so long?

　　什么事使你离开这么久?

（2）Sorry to have kept [kept]（keep的过去式和过去分词）you 

   up so late.   对不起让你这么晚都没睡。

2).keep+宾语+v-ing。如：

(1)I'm sorry to have kept you waiting.

　　对不起，让你久等了。

(2)The doctors managed to[ˈmænidʒ tu:]设法 keep me going活着的

   医生们设法让我活下去。 

(3)He kept me waiting for half an hour.

   他让我等了半个小时。

3).keep+宾语+v-ed。如：

(1)Keep the door closed. 让门关着。

4).keep+宾语(由人或物充当)+形容词。如：

(1)Keep your hands clean.

　　手要保持干净。

（2）You should keep the children quiet. 

    你要使孩子们静下来。

（3）She advised[ədˈvaɪz]建议  that we should keep the gate locked [lɔkt]锁定的 .     她建议我们要把门锁好。

5).keep+宾语+介词短语。如：

(1)Don't keep your hands in your pockets.

　　不要把手插在口袋里。

(2)The cold weather kept us indoors [ˌɪnˈdɔ:z]在室内 . 

    寒冷的天气使我们待在家里。

(3)If your hands are cold, keep them in your pockets  

   [ˈpɒkɪt]口袋.     如果你手冷，把它们放在口袋里。

(4)Will they keep me in prison [ˈprɪzn] 监狱 / 

  custody [ˈkʌstədi]拘留 ?   

  他们会监禁/拘留我吗?

（5）A cold kept him in bed for three days. 

    一次感冒让他卧床3天。

（6）She kept us waiting for a long time. 

    她让我们等了很久。

（7）The doctor kept me in在家for a week.

    医生让我呆了一个星期。

（8）He always keeps his books in good order.

    他总是把书放得整整齐齐。

（）Keep your mouth shut [ʃʌt] 闭上 and your eyes open.

少说话，多观察。

()You must keep it a secret [ˈsi:krət]秘密 . 

   这事你得保密。

3. 作实义动词   其后可接动名词作宾语，构成动宾结构，意为“保持”“保存”、“保留”、“记(日记等)”、“经营(商店等)”、“遵守(诺言等)”之意。但不能接不定式。 

保留、保存、保持、留下

(1)We'd better keep a seat for him.

我们最好给他留个座位。
(2)He kept all the money in the bank.
   他把所有的钱都存入了银行。

经营，管理
(1) He kept a hotel in this city.
    在这座城市里，他开了一家旅店。
(2)She is good at keeping house.她擅长管理家务。

(3)She keeps a bookstore.她经营一家书店。

履行（诺言）遵守

(1)Keep your word,please.请遵守你的诺言。

(2)Everybody must keep the law. 人人都必须守法。

赡养，养活，饲养
(1) He has a large family to keep. 他有一大家人要养活。(2)The old man kept many animals like dogs, pigs 

and cats.

  这位老人养了许多动物，像狗、猪、还有猫等。

保守（秘密），记（日记、帐）

(1)I keep a diary写日记 in English [ˈdaɪəri]日记 .

   我用英文记日记。

(2)All of the people keep the Spring Festival in our

country.

    我国所有的人都庆祝春节。
(3)Some of them keep birthdays.
    他们中有些人庆祝生日。

 保持、继续（处于某种状态）（keep为连系动词）

（1） Please keep quiet.请保持安静。
（2）We're keeping in very good health.
    我们身体非常好。
 （3）Will this fish keep till tomorrow?
    这鱼能放到明天吗？

 

比较keep doing sth与keep on doing sth：

两者均可表示反复发生的动作（即动作之间略有间隔）

They kept (on) talking about it. 

他们一直在谈论此事。

1.如果表示持续的状态或连续不断的动作（动作之间没有间隔）时，keep后接动名词作宾语，通常只用keep doing sth。如：

（1）He kept standing during[ˈdjʊərɪŋ]在…期间  the 

    meeting.   开会时他一直站着。

（2）The baby keeps crying all night.

　　 那个婴儿哭了一夜。

2.表示将一直在做的事继续做下去，通常只用 keep on 

doing。如：

He kept on working after dark天黑之后. 

天黑了我们还继续干。

Don’t give up放弃; keep on trying. 别灰心，继续努力。

比较keep doing sth与keep from doing sth

前者指不停地做某事，后者指克制自己不做某事。

（1）I could hardly [ˈhɑ:dli]几乎不keep from阻止laughing. 

    我简直忍不住大笑起来。

（2）I hope you will keep from doing anything rash

 [ræʃ]鲁莽的 . 我希望你不要鲁莽行事。

比较keep sb doing sth与keep sb from doing sth

前者指使某人不停地做某事，后者指使某人不做某事。 

（1）The snow kept us from going out. 

    下雪使我们没法出去。

（2）He hung [hʌŋ]逗留  around for hours  which was 

  worse[wɜ:s]更糟的 , kept me from doing my work.  

他闲待了好几个钟头，更糟糕的是，这使我也没法工作。

(3)We should try to keep the young people from 

  smoking.     我们应该要阻止年轻人吸烟。

()Prices keep rising[ˈraɪzɪŋ]上升 . 物价不断上涨。/Prices continue[kənˈtɪnju:]持续 to rise.物价继续上涨。

()Please don’t keep running up and down the   

stairs [steəz]楼梯 .   请别老在楼梯上跑上跑下。
