MATERIALS : *Materials used : *Stylecraft Special DK yarn in these colors:1 ball 100gr of green colors and 1 ½ ball 150gr of cream color. *Dark green – 1116, grass green -1821, spring green- 1316, cream – 1005, small amount of these greens- 1027- khaki, 1062- teal. *Crochet hook size 4.5mm for the blanket and 3.5mm for the appliques. *Tapestry needle *Safety eyes 10 mm 2 for each applique *Hot glue gun to stick the appliques on the blanket , you can sew them with yarn if you wish *scissors ABBREVIATION: *-sc = single crochet *-st(s)= stitch(es) *-dc = double crochet *- ch(s) =chain(s) *-sl.st = slip stitch *- rep = repeat *-sc2tog = 2 single crochet stitches *together *-hdc = half double crochet *** – make the stitches in the ** indicated times *() – number in () shows the stitches you must have in the end *MR- magic ring *FO- fasten off TIPS AND ADVICE: *This pattern is written in US Crochet term. *Read the pattern carefully and check the pictures. *Use safety eyes, buttons or if you are going to use the applique for decoration on blanket crochet eyes (Start with MR and secure with slip knot. Make 5 sc into the ring. ) *You can sew applique before you attach it to your project or you can sew it directly to the project. If you use smaller hook and thinner yarn your applique will become smaller and can be used for decorating clothes, hats and etc. Special stitch : Picot stitch – ch 3, sl.st in 1st ch Working in 3rd loop of hdc we made in prev row/round. – we made in prev row/rnd. See pictures bellow. We have regular front and back lop of the hdc and we have 1 3rd loop hidden in back . We work in that specific stitch. Blanket pattern :Ch multiple of 3 + 4 Row 1: Ch 72 + 4, make cluster stitch in 5th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 2 sts, cluster in next st * rep till end, make dc in last st instead of cluster. Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc in base of initial ch 1,* sc in next ch –sp, ch 2, skip 1 cluster *rep till the end, sc in next ch-sp, make the last sc in the space between the turning ch and last cluster st, sc in 2nd ch of turning ch. Row 3: ch 3, turn,* skip 1 st, cluster in next ch-2 sp, ch 1*rep till end, in the end we have 2 sc we made in prev row, skip 1 of them and make 1 dc in last st. Row 4: Repeat row 2 Row 5: Repeat row 3 Repeat alternating row 2 and 3 till you reach desired length. Joining: I used single crochet joining method. On each side of the stripes we have holes formed by the ch 3 we made in the cluster row. Take 1st and middle stripe fold them as they face each other with right side. Insert your hook in the 1st st of both stripes and pull a loop, ch 1, sc in the 1st hole, ch 3, sc in next hole, skip the sc row between the cluster rows. Repeat till the end.
