people、person、human都可以表示人

但这三个词都有什么区别呢？

首先，我们先要区分一下人和人类的差别。people和person是人，而human是指人类。

people指人，英文解释是persons; men, women and children，是集合名词，表复数概念。两个以上的人就可以用people。

而person指人，英文解释是a human as an individual，人类中的一个个体，man、woman、child中任意一个。

人类，就不仅是human了，human being、man、mankind/humankind、humanity都可以表示人类，英文解释是people in general，只是这些词的侧重点不同。

1. human/human being 

human和human being都是可数名词，强调人类里的每“个人”，相当于a person。

2. man 

man可以泛指所有的人类，但用man来表示人类有些性别歧视的意味。

3. mankind/humankind 

mankind和humankind表示人类的时候，也包含人类历史和发展的意思，mankind和man同理，大家要注意使用哦！

4. humanity

humanity表示人类，更多是用在人权、人类共同的难题这些比较宏大的主题上。

  people of  

people可以表示某个国家、种族、区域内的人。

表示某国人就是the British/American etc people；表示某个民族就是people of...，当表示民族、种族的时候是可数的。

  little people  

the little people可以表示童话故事里的小精灵、小仙子，尤其是指爱尔兰传说里的小精灵。

little person还可以指小老百姓、平民、小人物，形容国家或组织里的无权无势的群体。

The artist through his brush describes the lives of a group of the little people.

这位艺术家通过他的画笔，描述了一群小人物们的生活。

 in/on person 

in person意思是亲自、亲手、本人；而on/about one's person意思是随身携带。

You have to sign for it in person.

你得亲自去签收。

Customs officers found a gun concealed on his person.

海关人员发现他随身携带着一把隐藏的枪。

  human interest 

human更多是作形容词使用，表示区别于机器、动物，和人有关的属性或人的弱点、情感等。

human interest可不是人的兴趣，而是指（新闻报道、故事等中的）人情味的意思。

News with human interest is popular with readers because it's in accordance with people's overall feelings and affections.

富有人情味的新闻符合读者的口味，因为这和人的共同情感一致.
