虞世南

垂緌饮清露，流响出疏桐。

居高声自远，非是藉秋风。

虞世南（558～638），字伯施，越州余姚（今浙江省慈溪市）人。南北朝至隋唐时期书法家、文学家、诗人。其所编的《北堂书钞》被誉为唐代四大类书之一。

YU Shinan (558-638), styled Giving, a native of Yuyao, Yuezhou (present-day Cixi, Zhejiang Province). He was a calligrapher, writer and poet between the Southern and Northern Dynasties and the Sui and Tang dynasties. Manuscripts of the Back Meditation Room edited by Yu has been known as one of the four encyclopedias of the Tang dynasty.（俞荣译）

It drinks dew, a-drooping its antennae,

And shrills thru the sparse-leafed phoenix tree.

Its sound carries far as it sings on high;

Not at all does it on a wind rely.
