find one's feet 不要理解为“找某人的脚”

“适应新环境或站稳脚跟”用英语表达可以是 find one's feet,不要理解为“找某人的脚”,寓意:

1、become familiar with a new situation 

熟悉新情况


2、become confident in what you are doing 
对你所做的事情要有信心

3、become used to a new situation or experience 
习惯于新的情况或经历

例如:

1、He's still new in his job, please give him some time to find his feet. 
他还是新来的,请给他点时间让他站稳脚跟。

解析:give sb sth 是双宾语结构,相当于 give sth to sb.

2、How long did you take to find your feet in your new place of work? 
你花了多长时间才适应新工作?

3、I'm new to this city, so I'm still finding my feet. 
我刚到这个城市,所以我还在适应新环境。

4、It was only after doing many small shows that he finally found his feet as a singer. 
在只是参加了许多小的表演之后,他终于适应了当歌手。

5、We have this orientation programme that helps new employees find their feet in the organisation. 
我们有这个新员工入职培训计划,帮助他们在组织中站稳脚跟。

解析:关系代词 that 引导的限制性定语从句,此时可以跟关系代词 which 互换。

6、You may feel lonely at first, but slowly you'll find your feet in the new setting. 
一开始你可能会感到孤独,但慢慢地你将适应新的环境。

解析:can 和 may 都可表示可能性,can 通常用于否定句和疑问句,而 may 则通常用于肯定句和否定句。

7、After a lot of struggle and hard work, he finally found his feet as an entrepreneur. 
经过一番奋斗和努力,他终于站稳脚跟,成为一名企业家。

解析:lots of 和 a lot of 意思一样,意为“许多”,表示量很大,但是没必要指明量的多少,多用在比较不正式的谈话或是写作中(正式的用 many 或 much),后面跟可数名词和不可数名词,谓语的单复数根据后面接的名词来变化。
