5) play cat and mouse 【含义】一系列有计划的行动，欲擒故纵 【例句】 We’ve been playing cat and mouse with our main investor and I think he might pull out of the project. 我们一直在和我们的主要投资者忽冷忽热的，我想他可能会退出这个项目。
Now that she is famous she has had to learn to play cat and mouse with the paparazzi. 既然她出名了，她不得不学会和狗仔队玩起欲擒故纵的游戏。

【含义】看上去肮脏、不整洁 【例句】 I must look like something the cat dragged in. 我当时看上去一定很邋遢。

7) while the cat’s away the mice will play 【含义】山中无老虎，猴子称大王 【例句】 My parents never leave us alone when they go out of town. They know very well that while the cat’s away the mice will play. 我父母出城时从不丢下我们一个人。他们很清楚“山中无老虎，猴子称大王”。
