【原】"go to sleep"真不是“去睡觉”，使用错误太尴尬

英语看似简单，但想要表达准确，还真需要一点功夫。比如今天我们要学的go to sleep，你知道是什么意思吗？

有同学可能会说，这不就是“去睡觉”的意思嘛。如果真这么理解，可就闹笑话啦~

go to sleep真正的意思是“入睡”，而“去睡觉”的正确表达是：go to bed.

我们来看两个例句：

He didn't know his girlfriend was pregnant when he went to sleep that night.

那天晚上，当他入睡时，他根本不知道他的女朋友已经怀孕了。

Well, I'm not surprised you slept past noon if you went to bed at four in the morning! 

如果你凌晨4点才去睡觉，我一点儿也不奇怪你睡到了下午才起床。

在美剧《摩登家庭》中，Gloria和Jay说话时，就用到了go to sleep这个表达：

We bought Lily a beautiful birthday gift. Look, Jay. It's a talking storybook. We record ourselves reading it, and then at night, Lily can hear our voices before she goes to sleep.
