Twenty patients underwent internal fixation with absorbable polylactide pins. The remaining patients were treated with traditional metallic fixation devices, which are 62 with headless screws, 15 with plates, and 6 combined with screw and plates. The choice of implant is made by the professional surgeon before or during surgery. Basis of principles to choose polylactide pin fixation includes: radial head comminuted into no less than 4 fragments, or failed to fix the fracture with metallic screw and plate during surgery. Since the polylactide pin is chosen to fix the fractures that metallic implants can’t handle, so the severity of fracture of the patient who received polylactide pin fixation usually is much worse than patients who receive metallic implants fixation. The lack of consistency of the sample makes it almost impossible to compare the efficiency of polylactide pin fixation with metallic implants fixation.
