今天学一句很简单、很有用的话：

Here is the thing.

(Here's the thing.)

这句话乍看很简单，但具体怎么用呢？你不一定知道。而且，这句话在绝大部分的成语/习语（idiom）词典都找不到。

这句话通常是用来向别人解释某个情况，说明某个问题，尤其是在要唤起别人的注意的时候；或想要告诉别人，以下话语很重要（虽然不一定那么重要）；也可以用在想要转换话题时。可以译为“重要的是；重点是”。

也可以用一句曾经的网红话语来翻译这句话：“问题来了！/问题是……”

不过，这句话并不是要提出一个疑问，而是要说明一个问题，所以后面跟的并不是问句，而是陈述句。

例子来了：

Here is the thing. We need to talk.

问题是，我们需要谈谈。

I agree with your point, but here’s the thing,
we can’t have it both ways.

我同意你的意见，但问题是，我们不能鱼和熊掌兼得啊。

All right, here's the thing. I just think he’s not that into you.

好吧，问题是，我觉得他并不那么喜欢你。

Here is the thing: We’re behind in schedule.
We have to work overtime.

问题是，我们进度落后了，我们得加班赶活。

这句话也可以换个说法：

The thing is…

The thing is,
we haven't enough money for the tickets.

问题是，我们不够钱买票。

A: Why didn’t you invite me?

你为什么没邀请我？

B: Well, the thing is,
I didn’t think you'd want to come.

嗯，问题是，我觉得你不会想来。
