之前我们学过一个curse, an evil curse
curse=a word or phrase that has a magic power to make something bad happen
今天我们又学到一个spell
spell=words that are thought to have magic power or to make a piece of magic work; a piece of magic that happens when somebody says these magic words
对比体会一下, spell是中性的, curse则带有负面含义
of course大家都可以听出来
但你有没有想过of course在这里作用是什么呢?
其实作用是柔和语气, 等同于中文里的”当然了, 话说回来”
赫敏说: 你的魔法不咋滴. 当然了/话说回来, 我也只试过几个简单的, 不过效果都不错
如果能充分捕捉of course传递的语气, 也许有助于听出赫敏的话
do sth myself vs do sth by myself
两者都可以, 但意思不同
前者强调我做了某事, 后者强调我独自一人完成, 没有外力帮助
根据语境, 这里用前者更为合适
之前我们也学过一次, counted them myself
试想如果说counted them by myself听起来好像是: 数礼物这个任务很艰难, 我一个人独立完成, 没有外力帮助. 听起来是不是很诡异?
That’s better, isn’t it=现在这样比你刚才那样要好多了, 对不对
注意不要误解为”我的魔法效果比你的魔法效果好多了, 对不对”
