②部分否定是由表示总括意义的词如all, both, every, each, everything, everybody 和always, completely, entirely, wholly 等加上否定词 not, never 等构成的，含有“不全是、并非都”等意思。

这句话涉及到完成时中since的用法，可以这样记：

it has been + 时间段 since + 一般过去时（瞬间动词）：自从...至今已经多久了

it has been + 时间段 since + 一般过去时（延续动词）：自从不...至今已经多久了

smoke 是延续性动词，所以是第二种意思。

再来一个例句：

I haven’t heard any noise since I slept.

sleep 为持续性动词

所以应译为“我醒后还未听到任何声音”。
