【原】放鸽子除了短语动词 stand sb up，还可以用另外一个短语动词

放鸽子，汉语词语，本义指放飞白鸽，象征和平。后来网络出现了不遵守诺言的引申义。现多指定下约定而不赴约的不诚信一意。在英语中，常用短语动词 stand sb up 来表示放鸽子。

Stand sb up，指没有事先通知而故意失约使某人空等，尤指恋人，用于非正式场合；通常我们不用 stand up sb 来表示，而只用 stand sb up，例如：

He stood her up once too often, so she broke up with him.

他经常放她鸽子，所以她就和他分手了。

I'm sorry I stood you up, but I had a family emergency last night.

对不起，我失约了，但昨晚我有家庭急事。
