除夕用英文怎么说？

说到除夕，很多人第一反应就是New Year's Eve，但实际上，这个词组特指12月31日的晚上。

而除夕则是农历春节的前一天。除，即去除；夕，指夜晚，除夕便是旧岁至此而除，另换新岁。所以它的英文自然也和农历春节有关。

• Lunar New Year's Eve/ Chinese New Year's Eve 除夕

• lunar /ˈluːnə(r)/ adj. 阴历的

• eve /iːv/ n. 前夕，前一天

• ring out the old year and ring in the new 辞旧迎新

There's a tradition in our family that we have a party on Lunar New Year's Eve.

我们家有个传统，全家要聚在一起过除夕。

Let's ring out the old year and ring in the new.

让我们一起伴着钟声来辞旧迎新吧。

在这个辞旧迎新的日子里，有好多仪式感满满的活动，只有在今天做了这些事才叫过年~

（1）paste Spring Festival couplets 贴春联昭

• couplet /ˈkʌplət/ n. 对句，对联

On the Chinese New Year's Eve, every family pastes the Spring Festival couplets on their doors to express sincere blessings and good wishes.

春节期间，每家每户都在门口张贴春联以表达真诚美好的祝愿。

（2）paste Fu characters 贴福字

• Chinese character 汉字

People paste Fu characters upside down hoping for luck and blessings.

人们把福字倒着贴祈求好运和祝福。

（3）stay up late for the coming new year 守岁

"Shousui" means to stay up late on Lunar New Year's Eve. After the big dinner, families sit together and chat happily to wait for the New Year’s arrival.

守岁意味着除夕夜不睡觉。年夜饭后，家人聚在一起愉快地聊天，等待新一年的到来。

（4）watch the Spring Festival Gala 看春晚

• gala /ˈɡɑːlə/ n. 盛会

Are you going to watch the Spring Festival Gala this year?

今年你会看《春节联欢晚会》吗？

（5）set off firecrackers 放鞭炮

• firecracker /ˈfaɪəkrækə(r)/ n. 鞭炮

I had a lot of fun setting off firecrackers when I was a child.

• reunion /ˌriːˈjuːniən/ n. 团圆

年夜饭不仅是简单的一顿饭，更是把一家人系在一起的纽带，每一道菜中都寄托了一家人对来年的期待。

（1）Eggroll 蛋卷

Eggrolls symbolize wealth for the coming year, because they look like bars of solid gold.

蛋卷象征着来年的富裕，因为它看起来像金条

（2）Changming noodles 长命面

Changming noodles should not be cut, because long noodles symbolize health for a long life.

长命面要一整条吃下，不能夹断，象征幸福健康长命百岁。

（3）shrimp 虾

Shrimp symbolizes happiness, because the Mandarin words for shrimp and smile sounds very similar.

虾则象征着幸福快乐，因为在汉语中它的读音和“笑”相似。

（4）fish 鱼

Fish symbolizes abundance for their similar pronunciation in Mandarin.

鱼意味着年年有余，也是因为在汉语中相似的读音。
