Add Oil  心情低落，我们相互打气，“加油啊！人生不止眼且的苟且。”百米冲刺，我们高声鼓舞“加油，加油！”。世界杯中国男足比赛，我们也想喊一声“中国，加油！”，可惜没什么机会。 谁承想，咱们日常add add oil，现在已经由词典界的老大哥牛津辞典（OED）收录了！以后，你和老外说add oil，看他懂不懂。  小编还是这几天刷微博时，刷到环球时报的报道，吓了一跳，赶紧搜了下外媒，还真有。 BBC率先报道，标题为： Add oil: Encouraging Chinese phrase enters English dictionary 加油：表达鼓励的中文词组被收录进英语词典；这里可以注意下，英文标题往往会省略冠词，还原后应该是(the) Encouraging Chinese phrase enters (the) English dictionary。 那么除了enter表达收录，还有什么表达可以表达收录呢？ 文中最后一句： Now the English translation - "add oil" - has been recognised by the Oxford English Dictionary. Recognize得到承认，在这也就是收录进了词典的意思。Include，add也是可以的哦。比如：New words added to OxfordDictionaries.com today include binge-watch, cray, and vape. 那么Jia You or Add Oil到底是什么意思呢？  "Jia you" is a Mandarin Chinese expression used in cheers at sporting events and rallies or to encourage someone. “加油”是中文词语，在体育比赛、集会等场合欢呼“加油”为他人鼓劲。    其实早在2016年的时候，OED便有意收录add oil于是在官网发出呼吁，希望广大网友提供更多add oil的使用实例，帮助OED进一步了解这个词语的发展历程。 Add oil is an expression that has gained a lot of currency in Hong Kong in the last few years. A literal translation of the Cantonese phrase ga yao, it is used by Hong Kongers as an exclamation expressing encouragement or support.  Gain a lot of currency不是“发财”的意思而是popular的意思。 Literal translation学翻译的都知道吧！！！直译，也就是按字面译。美剧经常出现副词“literally”，很好用的小词： We've got to get the economy under control or it will literally eat us up. I said I felt like quitting, but I didn’t mean it literally 咱们翻译不仅要take the text literally，更要read between the lines。 Hong Kongers香港人，小编还看过Beijinger，哈哈，这个倒是没法儿举一反三，还是得观察老外的使用。 上面那句翻译一下： 加油的英语表达Add Oil近几年在香港愈发流行。Add Oil由粤语“噶油”直译而来，香港人常常呼喊add oil表示鼓励和支持。 不过也是万万没想到，这个Chinglish竟然是从港式英语那火到牛津词典的，这对我们的启示是？咱们不能放弃中式英文啊，要大力推广，用到老外接受啊！不不不，我们不是这么粗暴的人We won’t force them to down their throat with Chinese phrases。而是语言在不断变化发展，我们身为翻译，也要跟得上语言的发展，时代的变化，才不会被淘汰。 那么，在add oil收录进OED之前，我们都可以怎么用英文表达“加油”? 最最简单的，Go! Go! Go! Come on, come on！ 还有keep it up，go for it等等表达 尽管OED收录了add oil，但是我们翻译仍然要思考： 运动场上观众呐喊加油！加油！加油！ 如果翻译成Add oil！Add oil！能不能出来相同的效果呢？ 翻译如做菜，煎炒炸煮、油盐酱醋 样样有学问，处处需琢磨 |
