作于1963年的《转身》，见证了培根澎湃的创作力。一如艺术家其他的著名巨作，《转身》向观众赤裸裸地展示了艺术家笔下其貌不扬的主角：一只肌肉发达、形体扭曲的人形动物。它独自置身于一个不知名的室内或室外街景中，路旁堆放着一些报纸状物体，看似在跟踪画中人。主角的身上同时散发着一种莫名的龌龊感，令观者不得不联想起潜藏在人心深处的腐败与污秽。
