Scroll up for English Version A Legacy of Love: a conversation between daughter, mother and grandmother As Mother’s Day approaches, Qinyuan Pan, a student studying International Communications invites her mom Xiaojing Qin, and her grandma Hui Zhang, to join her on the podcast FHSS Radio for a heartfelt episode about growing up, being seen, and the power of women supporting women — across generations. The recent hit Korean drama When Life Gives You Tangerines, tells a heartwarming story of love and healing between three generations of women. For Qinyuan Pan, the show resonated deeply, reminding her of the two most important women in her own life: her mother and her grandmother. These two women were Qinyuan’s earliest guides into the world of communications. As a child, she woke up to her grandmother’s morning news shows and fell asleep listening to her mother record audiobooks. Her grandmother, once a self-taught journalist and radio host in her younger years, even published two collections of essays after retiring. Her mom, is a voice artists and the founder of a language school. Unknowingly, they planted the seeds of “communication” deep within Qinyuan’s heart. Their influence extended beyond mere exposure, they also actively nurtured Qinyuan’s passions. Zhang Hui encouraged her granddaughter’s writing from a young age, even helping her submit articles to local newspapers. Xiaojing Qin discovered Qinyuan’s love for Korean dramas, she not only enrolled her in Korean language learning classes but also joined her in studying. Therefore, when Qinyuan chose to major in International Communications, it wasn’t just a personal interest—it was a natural continuation of a legacy built on family love and support. A grandmother passionate about journalism, a mother active on audio platforms, and a granddaughter surrounded by “language,” “expression,” and “sound” from a young age—the choice was a culmination of this intergenerational heritage. This intergenerational dialogue is not just a Mother’s Day present, it’s a testament to the legacy of love and support that has shaped Qinyuan’s journey.
