读写时间:书籍不等人

拖延症读者的克星:“文字会慢慢消失的书”,正式问世啦!

The book that can’t wait书籍不等人

One problem a lot of people have with books is that they buy them and then never get around to reading them.

To [w]solve[/w] this problem, an [w]Argentinean[/w] (阿根廷的) [w]publisher[/w] called Eterna Cadencia came up with a [w]brilliant[/w] idea: it printed an [w]anthology[/w] (诗、文等选集) of new Latin American [w=author]authors[/w] in disappearing ink: the text of the book [w=vanish]vanishes[/w] two months after the special [w]package[/w] of the book is opened, thus [w=encourage]encouraging[/w] buyers to get around to reading it before it goes away. They call this “the book that can’t wait.”

According to a video presented with the story, the book was a great success. The publisher gave away the [w]entire[/w] first [w]edition[/w] at a bookstore the day it was printed, and received “thousands of requests” for more copies of the book. It also got a lot of media [w]coverage[/w] (媒体报道). As a result, the publisher is planning to publish other works in disappearing ink.

In some ways, the idea is pretty clever. But here, we have some [w=suggestion]suggestions[/w]:

First, the book should start the [w]vanishing[/w] [w]process[/w] after the reader first opens the book. If the vanishing ink books become very popular in the future, readers will need to read them one at a time. They don’t want their books to vanish before they read the first page.

Second, the vanished book should find a good use. Maybe they can be [w]recycled[/w], or maybe we can use them as notebooks. It would be a more [w]environmentally[/w] friendly way to do this.
