Chapter Three in Learning to Teach.

Tow theories are impressive.

The first is the discussion about planning in teaching.

There are two Planning Models.

The first one is Rational-Linear Planning Model（有理线性计划模型）. The perspective puts the focus on goals and objectives as the first step in a sequential process. Modes of action and specific activities are then selected from available alternatives to accomplish prespecified ends. The model assumes a close connection between those who set goals and objectives and those charged with carrying them out.

The second one is Nonlinear Planning Model（非线性计划模型）, it turned down the first one, in which planners start with actions that in turn produce outcomes and finally summarize and explain their actions by assigning goals to them.

Instructional Objectives are a road map in the process of a teacher’s teaching. There are three approaches to prepare instructional objectives.

First one is the Mager Format, the recommendation is to use precise words that are not open to many interpretations when you use it. Examples of precise words include write, list, identify, compare. Examples of less precise words are know, understand, appreciate. For example in table 1.

The second approach is more general. Gronlund, unlike the strict behaviorists, is more willing to use words are open to a wide range of interpretations.

 

 

The third one is the one that attracts me a lot. It’s the Taxonomy Table(分类学表)
