Liv Wan, real name Tsung-Yun Wan, is a writer, food blogger, freelance illustrator, wife and a mother. She worked for many years as a chef but is now working as a full-time illustrator by day and cookbook writer and food blogger by night. She is passionate about delicious food and loves to share her authentic Chinese and Taiwanese recipes with her readers.

She started her food blog when she moved to the UK from her home country of Taiwan. After moving to the UK she found it really difficult to find authentic Chinese and Taiwanese food, so she spent countless hours in her kitchen recreating her favourite authentic Chinese and Taiwanese cuisines and also revisiting her favourite food memories from back home.

Her Chinese and Taiwanese recipes are the kind of food you will find in real Chinese and Taiwanese households. She mainly focuses on “home-style” Chinese and Taiwanese cooking but sometimes she will also surprise you with some food with a fine dining touch. Occasionally it’s impossible to source out an ingredient in the UK but unless mentioned her recipes are completely authentic.

But people might be curious about which tea is the best or healthiest.

Dr. John Weisburger suggested that no matter what kind of tea, whether it be green or black tea, all comes from the same plant called Camellia Sinensis. The real difference between black and green tea is due to the way they are made. Black tea is made from fermentation while green tea doesn’t pass through this process. During fermentation, many of the natural benefits from the tea can be reduced or damaged due to the fermentation process.

But no matter what, I always highly recommend no matter what you eat or drink, you always consume everything in moderation. There is no perfect food in the world and there are still many medical researches waiting for breakthroughs. Even green tea contains caffeine which can cause some health risks and issues.

Black Tea Research

Previous research held instigated by the Netherlands National Institute of Public Health and the Environment found a connection between the consumption of black tea and reduced changes of having a stroke. Researchers looked at data from a study examining the health benefits of foods that are high in flavonoids - phytonutrients with antioxidant benefits. While some of the flavonoids were obtained from fruits and vegetables, seventy percent came from black tea. The study looked at 552 men over a 15 year period. Researchers concluded that the flavonoids in black tea helped reduce the production of LDL - the ''bad'' cholesterol that can lead to stroke and heart attacks. Furthermore, men who drank over four cups of black tea per day had a significantly lower risk of stroke than men who drank only two to three cups per day.

Green Tea Facts

Green tea contains the antioxidant EGCG which contains medicinal properties that can be used to treat various diseases.

Green tea contains caffeine, which is a known stimulant that has been shown to improve brain function including better moods and more focus. While the caffeine content isn’t as strong as coffee green tea also contains the amino acid L-theanine which can also improve brain function and reduce anxiety.

Regular consumption of green tea can help burn fat and improve physical performance.

Green tea is great for your teeth. The catechins in green tea can kill bacteria in your mouth and also help prevent you from catching influenza.

A study in 40,530 adults in Japan showed those who drank five or more cups of green tea were significantly less likely to die over a 10 year period. On average from all causes the reduction in chances of death was 23% with women and 12% with men.
