齐白石如何画与虫有关的器皿?

白石老人作画的对象很广泛,一般人常见到的东西都能入画,所以老人还画过盘碗等器皿。由于老人做过雕花木工,受过描图案花样的训练,所以画这类东西,一般画家远远比不上他。

这里画了一杯和一盘,非常有神。所谓“神”,就是把青花白瓷器皿的质感画出来了。我们远看,的确是白瓷的,并且很薄,还有立体感。若和蟋蟀罐相比,可以明显地分别出来,哪个是瓷的,哪个是陶的,哪个是厚的,哪个是薄的。

从而了解到画瓷器用墨水分要少,不能晕出,笔道要细,下笔要中锋,用铁线篆笔法,转笔要圆,不能重描。盘的外口圆和杯的上口圆,都要一笔画出,并且不能看出墨线相接的痕迹来。杯的外形,左右两笔挺直,真令人惊服这种笔下的功夫。这种运笔坚硬,圆处要软中硬的功夫,是和写篆字的笔法分不开的。我们看老人写的“和平”、“百花齐放”等篆字笔法,就可以体会这幅画的用笔法了。

此外质感和青花瓷上的图案也有关系。图案也要中锋细笔,笔要较干。画图案不必追求大小对称,但要注意用笔活动。这样才会更表现出青花瓷碗的质感来。

再看《瓦罐》,这种罐是瓦器,看着很简单,若在极薄的半生纸上,要几笔湿墨把它描绘得神似,没有几十年的写生与笔墨功夫,绝不能恰到好处。几笔也不添不描就抓住了形象,并且上盖的凹槽、罐旁的光线表现得很妥当,就是很见功夫的地方。

老人对质感方面特别注意,画的瓦器要像瓦器,瓷器要像瓷器,这都是他几十年笔墨功夫所提炼出来的。

Qi Baishi painted many goods, for example, utensil like plates and bowls and other familiar stuff. Since he learned how to carve patterns in the wood and got professional training in this aspect, he was way better than other painters in drawing these goods.

In this painting, he drew a glass and a plate which were very vivid, because the quality of the blue and white porcelain was expressed. If we watched the painting from afar, we could see that they were definitely white porcelain, thin and three-dimensional. Comparing them with the pot containing crickets, we could easily identify which one was porcelain, which one was pottery and which one was thick and which one was thin.

We learned that it took little ink to draw porcelain paintings. It could not have smudge. The strokes should be extremely fine and the line should have middle curve and small seal style should be adopted. The turning of the brush should be round and retracing was not allowed. The outer circle of the plate and the upper circle of the glass should be presented, and the conjunction traces should not be detected. As for the appearance of the glass, the left and the right strokes should were straight. This kind of skill was marvelous. And the skill, the pen movement was powerful and the turning was soft, was inseparable with the practice of seal characters. Appreciating the Chinese characters “ Peace” ”All flowers bloom together”, we could realize the style of this painting.

Besides, the quality of the painting was related to the patterns on the porcelain which also had curve and fine strokes. The sizes may not be matched but special attention should be paid to the flexibility of strokes. Only by doing this can the painting present the its quality.

Let’s look at Crockery. It was a kind of pottery. It seemed very easy to paint. However, if we must reflect its essence by only a few strokes on a piece of extremely thin paper, it cannot be done without decades’ of practice. Only by a few strokes, without out any touch-up, the shape was perfected appeared, coupled with the groove on the cap, and the light nears the pottery, the painter’s wonderful skills presented itself.

Master Qi paid special attention to the quality of his painting. Painted crockery and porcelain should be like the real ones. His skills were extracted from decades’ of practice.
