剧情｜Claire 没有打听到Haley 的消息，始终放心不下，于是她又决定问问Alex

Alex: Hi, Mom.   嗨 妈妈
Claire: Hi, honey. Where are you?   嗨 宝贝，你在哪儿呢？

Alex: I'm in the kitchen.  我在厨房啊。
Phil: Alex? When'd you get home? Alex? 你什么时候到家的?

Alex: I've been here all day.  我一直都在家啊。
Phil: Oh. You should get outside, get some fresh air. It's a beautiful morning. 噢， 你应该出去玩一下， 呼吸一下新鲜空气，多美好的一个上午啊。
Alex: It's noon, and it's freezing out.  现在是中午，而且外面很冷。
Claire: Phil, honey, when I'm not home, I need you to be present and keep track of everyone.

Phil，亲爱的，当我不在家的时候，我需要你在家并且时刻关注每个人的动态。
Phil: Sounds good. Love you too.  你说了算，我也爱你。
Claire: Alex, do you know where Haley is?   Alex, 你知道Haley在哪儿吗？

Alex: Mmm. I know she was babysitting Lily last night but I haven't seen her since. By the way, don't read the draft I sent you last night of my college essay. I just sent you a new version.

额，我知道她昨晚照顾Lily了，但我之后就没再见过她。话说，不要看我昨晚给你发的论文草稿，我刚刚给你发了最新改过的版本。
Claire: Uh, okay. I will go read that one right now.  呃，好的。我现在就去看新的那个。

Claire 问Alex 在哪里，Alex回答道她在厨房里面。这让Phil 十分惊讶，因为他也在厨房里面。 Phil 问道：When’d you get home?

这句话的发音大家可以注意一下。

另外，有一首很有名的歌叫做 Where’d you go, 是由前林肯公园主唱之一创作的，非常好听，大家可以去听一听。听歌的时候尤其可以注意一下这句歌词的发音。

Phil 听说Alex 一整天都在厨房里，于是建议她出去 get some fresh air. 呼吸一下新鲜空气。

劝别人说话经常可以用这种三段式

譬如：

让别人出去走走+呼吸点新鲜空气+外边天气好/有有意思的东西

You should get outside, get some fresh air. It's so nice outside.

但是Alex 反驳道： It’s freezing out. 看过权利的游戏的朋友们都知道，权利的游戏中Stark家族说了六季的话终于应验了，winter has come. 外面是很冷的。

那么表示冷的词有哪些呢？

按照冷的强度由弱到强有：

Cool

Chilly

Cold

Frosty

freezing

Claire 感觉Phil 对孩子的情况一无所知，所以她有点不满意了。她说， When I am not home, I need you to be present and keep track of everyone. 

be present: 集中注意力，专心

例句：

He’s here, but he’s not present. He’s thinking of something else. It’s like he’s in his own world. 他虽然人在这里，但是他的心不在这里，他在想别的事情。他就像活在自己的世界里面一样。

Claire让Phil keep track of everyone. 

Keep track of: 一直掌握或了解…的情况。

例句：

A: Wow! You look great.  哇，你看起来很棒啊。

B: Thanks, I’ve been keeping track of my calories and eating less.  谢谢，我一直在记录自己的卡路里的摄入以及消耗情况，并且有节食。

对于Claire的唠叨，Phil 回答道 Sounds good, love you too!

这里有意思的是love you too, 因为这里Claire 并没有说 love you, 说明Phil 根本就没认真听，他对Claire的絮叨不耐烦了，想要敷衍了事。

 

另外，在Alex的回答中，她提到了draft和version两个词

Draft: 草稿的意思

Version: 版本 

The old/ new version    旧版/新版

The standard/ premium version.   标准版本和豪华版本
