Her name was Mrs. Wang. Mrs. Wang was very strict to her students. She never let us get distracted or talk to our classmates during classes. Most importantly, she made sure that we never ever cheated. Although she was a tough disciplinarian, she was a really effective educator. She would be able to break down even the most difficult math problems and teach them to us , which helped me get the concepts right away. She never wanted us to learn by rote memorization. Instead, she encouraged our yearning to learn by inspiring us. I clearly remember something she said to us once: draw inferences about other cases from one instance. In my opinion, this is the correct way to approach learning. She taught us that blindly memorizing facts from books isn’t important. Instead, we should learn about a topic from many different angles and take different approaches. In this way, we can learn a great deal more. Her words influenced me greatly and I’ve taken her mantra to heart. Whenever I come across some difficult situations at work, I always try to stay calm and not only solve the problem in front of me, but also try to anticipate possible related problems that might come up.
