瞧一瞧、看一看 online、on line、on the line 这三个长得那么像的词和词组 究竟是有关系还是没关系呢？ 挑战菌就和大家讲讲line的表达吧！  on line主要有两个意思。首先，在之前join的表达中，其中就提到line有队伍的意思，on line = wait in a line of people，意思就是排在队伍里。 另外，on line有在线、上线的意思，就等于online。大家平时登陆QQ或游戏的上线，就是用online表示  而on the line就和上网排队没有关系了。on the line表示处在危险状态、命悬一线。 一般是put/lay sth on the line，可以是jobs、career、reputation、friendship等等；也可以用put one's neck/oneself on the line，表示把...置于危险的状态。 除此之外，on the line还有打电话、保持通话的意思，这时候line相当于phone。 Eg This shouldn't take much longer—Mom's on line to pay right now. 这花不了多长时间，妈妈已经排在付款的队伍里。 By making such a controversial movie, he has really put his reputation on the line. 拍出这样一部有争议的电影，他真是冒着名声尽毁的风险。 line可以表示两个区域之间人为假设的线，就比如经线纬线，国际日期变更线这类地理名词，或是国界线、州界线这类地区边线。 来，挑战菌就带大家复习一下地理知识！ line of longitude 经线 line of latitude 纬线 International Date Line 国际日期变更线 equator 赤道 prime meridian 本初子午线 the Tropic of Cancer 北回归线 the Tropic of Capricorn 南回归线 line有观点、态度的意思，相当于opinion/attitude。official line就是官方立场、官方说法的意思，一般指的是国家层面的。 我们再看看一个有相同line的表达：take a tough/firm/hard line on sth，意思就是对...采取严厉态度。 Eg Japan's official line is that it does not allow the immigration of unskilled foreign labourers. 日本的官方说法是，不允许非熟练外国劳动力移民。 The school takes a very tough line on drugs. 学校对毒品采取了严厉态度。 out of line字面看是超过某条线，可以简单地理解成越界、不在一条直线上，这里的越界指的是真是存在，可以被看见的情况。 out of line也可以引申为出格、过分、不合适的意思。可以用get/step out of line表示。
