虽然是都是大学，但college和university还是有分别的，来看看具体用法和区别吧！

美语中college多特指小型学院类高等教育学府，有时指社区大学，英语中college是包含在university中的一个个小的专业性的学院。

而university是综合性大学，包含了多个college，两者既可是附属的性质，也可以是两个不同的教育机构。

通常来说，美国人说“上大学”一般只说“go to college” 而不是“go to university”。例如“My daughter will go to c ollege next year”。

说完了大学，我们来说说九年制义务教育吧

●高中 senior high school

●初中 middle school

        secondary school

        junior high school

●小学 primary school   /['praɪm(ə)rɪ/

        elementary school  /[ˌelɪˈmentri]/

前面眼花缭乱看了这么多的school，那你知道 old school 是什么意思吗？可不是老学校的意思！

old school 是个俚语 ，表示老派的、传统的。

举个栗子：

The abrasive newcomer from Special Branch is very much of the old school. 

刚从政治保安处调来的那个讨厌鬼非常守旧。

除此之外，在英语口语之中 old school 还有母校的意思，而不是 mother school 哦！

在地道的口语交流中，母校还可以用Alma Matter表示。这个说法来源于拉丁文，意思是 kind mother 。
