I think the best rewards to give children are trophies and certificates. Something they can display with pride at home to remind them of their achievement, and something they can keep and look back upon in years to come. Of course there are other prizes such as gifts that children can receive, but a gift is soon forgotten, whereas a trophy and certificate will remain. I won a few trophies and certificates when I was at school, and every time I looked at them it made me feel proud and motivated to win more. I don’t think monetary rewards should ever be given to children at school. Our society is already obsessed with money. We don’t need to make it worse.
