“发消息”居然不是send a message！错了就赶紧改过来！

【天天导读】“发消息”居然不是send a message！错了N多年，赶紧改过来！

上次由于不方便说话，于是我就跟我一个老外朋友说，我们还是发短信聊天吧，于是我说了一句I'll send a message to you. 老外一脸懵逼地看着我，原来我说错话了。今天，就跟着班长来学习一下这个表达的细微差别吧。

send a message

在不同场景下，表达的意思是完全不同的，所以直接使用send a message存在非常大的歧义。

首先message不仅仅表示 “信息”，还可以表示一种 “暗语”“暗示”“态度”“立场”等等的内涵。比如，我们在不方便说话时，使一个眼色，做一个动作，做一个微表情，都能传递message。下面我们来几个场景：

①内涵，暗示信息：

1、He made a gesture to send a message that he was kidnapped.

他做了个手势，表示他被绑架了。

2、She winked at me to send a message that she didn't want to go there.

她向我使了个眼色，表示她不想去那儿。

②发声，表明立场：

1、They are sending a message that they will protect our Mother Nature.

他们的立场是他们将保护我们的自然母亲。

2、Tim sent a message that he would drop out of the school.

蒂姆表明了态度说他要退学。

send sb. a message

如果在send和a message中间加了一个人称代词I的宾格（me）的话，就会消除这种误解。 send me a message 就是表示“给我发一个信息”。

message的英文释义是：a written or spoken piece of information, etc. that you send to sb or leave for sb when you cannot speak to them yourself

当你不能亲自与某人交谈时，你寄给某人或留给某人的书面或口头信息等。（书面或口头的）信息，消息，音信。

注意，从英文解释看，这里的message不仅仅表示“语音”，同时也包含很多种类的信息，比如书面的。所以如果要表示 “语音”=voice message； “短信”=short message；'电邮信息'=email message。

例句：

1、I'd like to send you a voice message if I'm free.

如果我有空的话，我想给你发个语音信息。

2、Thank you for sending me an email message to remind me of the time of this meeting.

谢谢你给我发邮件提醒我这次会议的时间。

messages作复数时

messages在作复数时，通常表示“多条信息”，但是，有意思的是，在Scottish English(苏格兰英语)中还可以表示： shopping购物；买东西。

例如：

1、He did the messages this early morning.

他大清早去买东西了。

2、Her mother went for the messages for her birthday party.

她妈妈为了她生日趴体去买东西了。

3、You can leave your messages (= the things that you have bought) here.

你可以把你买的东西放在这儿。

习语：get the message

( informal ) to understand what sb is trying to tell you indirectly 领悟，理解，明白（别人的暗示）

例句：

1、When he started looking at his watch, I got the message and left.

他开始看表了，我明白他的意思，就走了。

2、He was standing there with eyes closed, so I got the message knowing that he wasn't interested.

他站在那里，闭着眼睛，所以我知道他不感兴趣。
