I.用不定式表示行为的目的（to do） I went to a bookstore to look for some books I wanted. 1.也可以用 in order to do,较正式 The boy was determined to try all the bookstores in order to get one. In order to know the result, I decided to follow him. 若句子的两个部分是同一个主语， 这两种结构都可以用: I went to a bookstore to look for some books I wanted. I went to a bookstore in order to look for some books I wanted. 2.上述表目的的不定式一般不用否定形式 不说I went to a bookstore not to look for some books I wanted. 表否定时，用 so that +否定动词 或so as not to do II.用in order that 从句表示行为的目的 Reading: He tried four more different bookstores, but failed.When he went to the fifth bookstore, he was asked by the bookseller why he wanted the geography book. His answer was , “To study. My father was a sailor, and I want to learn more about geography in order to be a sailor as my father.” And I told the bookseller his story. Hearing the word, the book seller let the boy have one which is not new for fifty cents. And I also gave the boy two dollars to let him buy some more books. 1.可以把“to do”短语或“in order to do”改写成in order that 从句（从句动词用can, may,could 或might +动词原形） I want to learn more about geography in order that I could be a sailor as my father. 2.用 in order that 从句时，句子的两个部分不一定是同一个主语： And I also gave the boy two dollars in order that I might let him buy some more books（或 in order that he could buy some more books）. III.So that/so Reading: Thirty years later, I was on a journey to Europe. The ship met with a terrible storm. A great leak was filling the ship with water. The captain ordered all his men to use the pumps, so that they could try their best to save the ship. The captain also asked all the people on board to help so that the ship shouldn’t sink. And at last he did land us safe. The captain had the strong will, so that the people on board were saved. Then I got to know that the captain was just the boy who got the geography book for fifty cents some thirty years ago. 用so that 谈论行为的目的（=in order that） 1.当两个部分的主语不一致时： The captain ordered all his men to use the pumps, so that（in order that） they could try their best to save the ship. 2.so that 从句的句子动词同 in order that 从句 当目的是否定结构式，从句动词常用 should+ 动词原形： The captain also asked all the people on board to help so that the ship shouldn’t sink. 3.也可以用so as(not) to do 表示（否定的）目的（句子两部分的主语要一致）： All the people on board were also asked to help so as not to be drowned.(...= so that they shouldn’t be drowned) 4.so that 常简写成so: The captain ordered all his men to use the pumps, so (that) they could try their best to save the ship. 5.so that 可以表结果: The captain had the strong will, so that the people on board were saved. 小练习：用to ，in order to 回答问题1, 用 in order that 回答问题2： 1.Why did the boy go to a bookstore? 2.Why do you want to learn more about geography? 上期答案： 1． 1 cut 2 joined 2. 2, 4 3. 1 they had 2 they’re having 3 they’re going to have |
