![]() ![]() Can You Escape? Many friends, out of good intention, advised me ever that the less I should care about, the better, especially some issues concerning politics or social problems. The main reason for that, they insisted, is that being concerned with less, one can keep peace of mind more. I agree with those friends more or less. However, I can't help restraining the impulse ot refuting the opinion. Peace of mind, as the main reason to care about less, is achieved not by escaping from the reality, but by making the reality change if it has something to do with the reality. Or, you would not keep the peace of mind since you are in reality, whch concerns you all the time. I am well aware that their suggestion is indeed out of good intention, and they can keep silent when something bad happened to others.they call it a kind of cultivation or the principle of doing things as a man. An ancient philosopher wisely summed up the phenomen in one sentence: That should be ignored which is not concerning you. But does it not really concern you? No, never! The moment you saw the first ray of the world, you were, are and will be concerned with everything that happened, is happening and will happen in the world. You can’t escape from it. You have to put yourself in it each and every moment. You are destined to be among the world, to be part of it and everything you do is closely connected to it. Many a year ago, a poet by the name of John Donne with affection to the human being wrote: No man is an island, Entire of itself, Every man is a piece of the continent, A part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less. As well as if a promontory were. As well as if a manor of thy friend's Or of thine own were: Any man's death diminishes me, Because I am involved in mankind, And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee. yeah, never send to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee. Later, Hemingway, the prominent novelist in America, titled one of his novels For Whom the Bell Tolls. He was obviously inspired by the peom by Donne. That means that they both threw light on the connection of one another from different aspects. There is a principle bearing the title of the Butterfly Effect, which suggests that the vibration of a butterfly in Amazon Rain Forest would end up with a tornado in Texas in America two weeks later. So don’t forget that the sligtest action may be able to cause a big change. But escaping from the reality may result in ruining you life forveer. Darkness is the scarcity of light; Evil is the scarcity of goodness; injustice, justice; ugliness, beauty. So put yourself in reality, acting as light, goodness, justice and beauty. Your wings’ vibration will cause something like tornado, so don’t forget to flutter your wings! It means something! |
