汉语中 “吃”这个词很万能

“吃饭、吃药、吃亏、吃枪子儿、吃福建人”

可谓万物皆可吃

但是对应到英语中

就不能都用eat了

比如“吃药”  千万别说成

eat medicine

为什么不能用eat

eat一般用于食物，意味着咀嚼（chew）和品尝（taste），并且期待会享受这个味道。而药品却不是这样的。

还有一位网友不仅解释了错误原因

还给出了正确答案

英语中我们一般说「take medicine」。因为用 eat 的时候一般意味着你要咀嚼（chew），而这一点恰恰是药品说明上明确禁止的，你是要整个儿把它吞下去的。

eat 我们就乖乖用在“吃食物”上好了

比如

She was eating a sandwich.

 她当时正在吃一个三明治。

而「吃药」的正确表达是

「take medicine」

  

例句：

I need to take this medicine three times a day.

这个药我需要一天吃三次。

但 take one’s medicine

就不是你想得那么简单了
