In your society money is like a weapon that you need to protect yourself. You must completely accept the fact that you do indeed dwell in a safe universe—one in which you are free to develop, say, your painting abilities to the fullest, without fearing that that development will dull the weapon that brings you money. You do not particularly need more money, but it is coming to you, and naturally as rain out of the sky. ——《私人课》第三册 TPS3 Deleted Session ![]() Money Is Coming! If it is possible the two of you should have a garden of fresh vegetables—not only for the obvious values, but because of the implied contact with the growing earth, regardless of how small the garden might be. … Whenever you become anxious, overconcerned, you can almost always refresh yourself by a return of attention to the events immediately present in the natural world. Each person responds far more to the environment, that they also create, than is realized. The reason why moving often helps, and sometimes does not, is fairly obvious. A good move physically represents an inner change that then seeks a new environment in which it is materialized. … Your environment is a symbol of your inner life and beliefs; one appears physical to you while the inner life does not. You can learn much about your own body consciousness, and therefore to some extent about the natural man, by observing the behavior of your pets or other animals, and you can to some extent learn from their behavior, and therefore to some extent counteract any susceptibility to negative beliefs. I have given some material like this in the past—but on such occasions try to return to the moment, to the present. Perceive it as clearly as you can from the standpoint of the stimuli present before you. Mentally say “This is my present experience now.” Then, if you find yourself exaggerating any unpleasantness within that moment, and projecting it into the future, you stop and say “That is not a part of this present moment. In the terms of my bodily reality, those dire imaginings, whatever they are, are not real. My body can only respond to the present. I will not overload that present by borrowing trouble that in this moment has no reality” . Such imaginings frighten the body consciousness, as you might frighten an animal. Thoughts of the will and your approaching 50th and 60th birthdays have led you, Joseph, to look over you life, to ask, “What have I done? Am I a success or a failure?” But when you do so, you often ask the question through the cast of old conventional beliefs. If you ask “Is the world a better place to live because I live?” or “Have I helped the people in the world in any way?” or “Have I lifted men’s hearts or minds in any way?” or “Have I affected others for the better?” then those answers must be yes, and there is no better measure of true success. TPS5 Deleted Session 1 END 1 ![]() |
