Clinical study on warming-needle moxibustion for infertility patients with thin endometrium

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effect of warming-needle moxibustion on the endometrial thickness and pregnancy outcome. Methods Forty infertility women, selected from those who visited to the TCM department of Maternity and Child Care Centers in Fujian Province from October, 2015 to October, 2016, were enrolled in this study. These women had mature follicle and successful ovulation according to B ultrasound monitoring, but their endometrial thickness was thiner than 7 mm. The women were divided into warming-needle moxibustion group (group A, 20 cases) and medication group (group B, 20 cases). In group A, acupuncture, warming-needle moxibustion and electroacupuncture were conducted at different clinical stage. In group B, progynova was given to the patients from the 7th day of menstruation to the 14th day after ovulation (2 tablets, bid，oral administration in the morning and evening). The treatment lasted for 3 menstrual cycles, and the endometrial thickness changes and pregnancy rate of the patients in the two groups were compared after treatment. Results The endometrial thickness of patients in the two groups increased after treatment when compared with the thickness before treatment. The average endometrial thickness in group A increased from (5.231.57) mm before treatment to (8.312.80) mm after treatment, while the average endometrial thickness in group B increased from (5.270.99) mm before treatment to (8.321.97) mm after treatment, and the differences were statistically significant (both P<0.05). the="" increase="" of="" endometrial="" thickness="" of="" the="" patents="" in="" group="" a="" after="" treatment="" was="" slightly="" larger="" than="" that="" in="" group="" b,="" and="" the="" difference="" was="" not="" statistically="" significant="" (p="">0.05). After treatment for 3 menstrual cycles, the pregnancy rate of infertility women in group A was 25%(5/20) and 15%(3/20) in group B. Conclusion Warming-needle moxibustion can increase the endometrial thickness to a certain extent, thus improving the endometrial receptivity, enhancing the embryo implantation rate, and improving the pregnancy outcome.

[摘要]目的:探讨温针灸对不孕妇女子宫内膜厚度及妊娠结局的影响。方法:纳入2015年10月~2016年10月在福建省妇幼保健院中医科就诊病人中，通过B超监测有成熟卵泡并顺利排出，但子宫内膜厚度<7><0.05)。针灸组治疗前的子宫内膜厚度平均为（5.231.57）mm提高到（8.312.80）mm，而药物组治疗前的子宫内膜平均厚度为（5.270.99）mm在、提高到（8.321.97）mm。针灸组子宫内膜治疗后增加幅度略高于药物组，但差异无统计学意义(p>0.05）。在3个月经周期治疗后，经统计，针灸组不孕妇女的妊娠率为25%，而药物组的妊娠率是15%。结论：温针灸在一定程度上可以增加子宫内膜厚度，从而改善子宫内膜容受性，提高胚胎着床率，改善妊娠结局。

　　World Journal of Acupuncture-Moxibustion (WJAM) was established in 1991, which has been administered by State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People's Republic of China, sponsored by World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS), Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS) and China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (CAAM). It is an English version academic journal from China and publish throughout the world, and the Italian version is published correspondingly.

　　In 2012, WJAM was collected by Science Direct. In 2015, WJAM was collected by Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD). In 2016, WJAM was selected into the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) which is hold by the famous International scientific literature publishing company Clarivate Analytics (original Thomson Reuters). The papers of WJAM can be searched in the subset of Web of Science Core Collection and can be searched and downloaded the same way as the journals collected by Science Citation Index (SCI). The fifth editorial board of WJAM consists of 46 renowned experts all over the world and 58.7% of them are outside China mainland. From the beginning of 2018, WJAM has been the full-service journal of Elsevier, and the edit and production becoming more standard and international.
