【原】Under the weather不是“在天气下”，90%的人都翻译错了！

Weather这个词大家都认识是“天气”的意思，那么问题来了，英语中有这样一个俚语："under the weather"，你知道是什么意思吗？

如果你翻译成“在天气下”，那可就大错特错啦！

来看一下权威的解释吧：

Under the weather:

If you say that you are under the weather, you mean that you feel slightly ill.

形容某人身体不舒服。

关于这个俚语的来源，据说是很多人容易受天气影响，关节等部位会不舒服，从而由"under the influence of weather"演变成"under the weather"。

一起来看两个例句吧：

I was under the weather yesterday, but I'm feeling much better now.

我昨天身体不舒服，但现在好多了。

Don't disturb Eric. He is feeling under the weather these days. 

别去打扰Eric，他这几天身体有点不舒服。

美剧《致命女人》中也出现了这个表达，我们来看一下吧~

在S01E07中，Sheila去找April，想和她再谈一谈，然后有了下边这段对话：

April: Sheila. Um, what are you doing here?

April: Now's not really a good time, I'm feeling under the weather.

-现在不是时候，我觉得有点不舒服。 

值得注意的是，这个表达是非常口语化的，那么书面语怎么表达“小病”呢？

可以用一个高级词汇：ailment /ˈeɪlmənt/ n. 小病  例如：

One sure giveaway of quack medicine is the claim that a product can treat any ailment.
